OFFICE OF THE VICE-CHANCELLOR
The Office of the Vice-Chancellor of Hezekiah University is occupied by a Professor appointed by the Board of Trustees on the recommendation of the Council. The Vice-Chancellor is expected to hold office for a period of five years which may be renewed for a further term of five years only, subject to the satisfactory performance evaluation and upon such condition as may be prescribed by the Council. The Vice-Chancellor is the Chairman of the Senate and exercises general academic supervision over the University and has a general responsibility to the Council for maintaining and promoting the efficiency and good order of the University. It is the duty of the Vice-Chancellor to see that the provisions of the Law, the statutes and regulations are observed and he/she may exercise such powers as may be necessary or expedient for that purpose. He/she shall provide leadership and direction to the University through policy formulation, development and implementation to ensure accountability and responsibility for efficient and effective compliance with the University law, statutes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Prof. Enoch Ajunwa hails from Otampa in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State of Nigeria. He is a Professor of French Language and Translation and currently the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Hezekiah University Umudi. He was the pioneer Dean, Faculty of Humanities, Hezekiah University Umudi and former Head, Department of Modern European Languages, Faculty of Arts, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka; former Dean, School of Languages, Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, Anambra State and former Head, Department of French of the same College.
His academic qualifications include Ph.D. (UNN), M.A. (UNIBEN), PGDE (UNN), BA (UNIBEN), Diplôme d’Études Françaises (Université de Grenoble, France) and Diplôme Supérieur d’Études Françaises (Université de Grenoble, France). Prof. Ajunwa has taught French language and translation at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the university. He has successfully supervised a number of MA and Ph.D. candidates in the area of Translation Studies in the Dept of Modern European Language as well as Dept of Igbo, African and Asian Studies. He is also External Examiner to University of Nigeria Nsukka, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Abia State University, Uturu.
His creative output include novels, text books, chapters in books, and many journal articles published in local, national and international journals. His postdoctoral research interest is in the area of the neological enrichment of the Igbo language (his endangered mother tongue) through applied translation and Igbo lexicography.
